QUALITY & IMPORTANCE
In the 2021 City of Puyallup Community Survey, 60% of respondents rated their overall feeling of safety as excellent or good. This rating was lower than the national benchmark which is comprised of resident perspectives from the most recent survey completed in over 600 communities nationwide. 82% of the residents strongly expressed the importance for the City government to focus on safety in the next two years.
HIGH SAFETY RATINGS
Despite a lower than benchmark rating for overall safety, residents gave high rankings to all other measures of safety in Puyallup:
- 89% of respondents felt safe in their neighborhoods and 82% believed that the City's commercial areas are safe.
- Positive ratings were given to the Citys police services (82%), emergency preparedness (67%), and crime prevention (61%).
- All of these ratings are similar to the national benchmark.
