The Puyallup Public Library offers free programs for teens and young adults (ages 13+ or grades 7+) throughout the school year. Teens can drop in for Anime Club, gaming days, crafting, and the League of Teen Advisors volunteer group. All teen programs are offered through funding from The Friends of the Puyallup Public Library.
If you would like to be added to our monthly electronic newsletter about teen programs, please email Young Adult Librarian Bonnie Svitavsky to be added to our mailing list.
Self-Defense for Women
March 6 & 7, 13 & 14
6:00 - 9:30 pm
Learn about personal safety and self-defense in this series of workshops. Attendees will receive valuable information about reducing risks, including recognizing potentially dangerous situations, as well as evading and escaping physical confrontations. Participants will practice striking on pads, dummies, and suited instructors.
This series of workshops is for women ages 16 years and older. Registration is required, as space is limited, and you must attend all four sessions. Call the library (253.841.5454), email, or visit a staff desk to register. You may also download a registration packet, which includes information about attire and class topics.
This month we'll be watching A Place Futher Than the Universe (not rated). Mari Tamaki is a high school student who wants to make the most out of her youth, but is usually too afraid to do so. One day, she meets Shirase, a girl who has been saving up to travel to Antarctica to search for her missing mother. Joined by two other girls, they set forth on an icebreaker bound for the Antarctic.
No registration required to attend. If you have requests for future anime club screenings, email us your suggested titles.
