Be inspired to be a part of our beautiful natural world! Adopt-a-Trail is an all-volunteer program that gives the public an opportunity to be actively involved in conserving and maintaining the many trails in parks throughout Puyallup.
Sign up to be a Trail Steward
To get started, you will need to submit an application to become a Trail Steward with city staff. Prior to adopting a trail, all trail stewards are required to attend a training class; the adopt-a-trail training course is held twice a year by city staff. Applicants will be placed on a waiting list until the next training date is scheduled.
By adopting a trail, Trail Stewards will commit to:
Maintain and monitor a trail segment (minimum of .5 mile segment) for a minimum one-year commitment,
Inspect their adopted trail segment once per month and provide the program coordinator with a monthly report, and,
Perform a larger 'trail service project' at least once a year with Puyallup Parks and Recreation staff (may include spreading wood chips on trails eradicating invasive plants, restoration paintings, building a new trail segment, or installing small structures such as bird houses, split rail fencing and/or bridges).
