Welcome to the Puyallup Police Department
The men and women of the Puyallup Police Department are committed to working in partnership with the community to ensure that we are effectively addressing crime at every level. We are cognizant that citizen involvement is a vital component to our success. We depend on our citizens to be engaged in their community and report suspicious incidents to the police department. You are our eyes and ears.
The Puyallup Police Department currently involves our citizens in many different activities including: Citizen's Academy, Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS), Police Reserve program and the Police Explorer program. The programs are a vibrant and valuable asset to the Department and the community. We encourage you to explore the program options and consider participating in one that is right for you.
The Puyallup Police Department is committed to utilizing innovative strategies to prevent crime. Our agency adopted the Problem Oriented Policing (POP) philosophy to address the root cause of crime and reduce calls for service. We currently have two officers and a sergeant assigned to the POP Unit. In addition, many officers and detectives have received training in the proactive policing concept. This policing strategy moves the agency from providing a reactionary response when crime occurs, to proactively seeking out criminal behavior and activity. Using this model, our department studies crime patterns and analyzes trends in order to implement directed enforcement. The department has generated many successful proactive programs and we receive requests to have our officers provide presentations both locally and nationally on the subject.
The Puyallup Police Department strives to make our community one where people can feel safe to live, work and play. We are proud to serve such a wonderful community and welcome your feedback!
