The Puyallup City Council has allocated $100,000 of federal CARES Act funds for emergency relief grants for residential housing assistance.
Puyallup residents who have experienced negative economic impacts due to the coronavirus pandemic may be eligible to receive help with rent or mortgage payments. Assistance will be offered up to one month’s cost of rent or mortgage, not to exceed $1,500. Income limits apply.
Refer to this public notice for more information, eligibility restrictions and how to apply.
On March 18th, Governor Inslee enacted a statewide moratorium on evictions of residential tenants for 60 days, or until the civil emergency ends (whichever comes sooner). This moratorium was subsequently extended and is now set to expire, absent an additional extension, on October 15, 2020.
The CDC issued a nationwide moratorium on evictions until December 31, 2020.
Please note, payments will still be due once these moratoriums are lifted, and tenants/homeowners are expected to make payments on balances accrued. If able, consider talking to your landlord or mortgage service provider about a flexible payment plan instead.
