On March 18th, Governor Inslee enacted a statewide moratorium on evictions of residential tenants for 60 days, or until the civil emergency ends (whichever comes sooner). The CARES Act further prohibits lenders or loan servicers of federally backed mortgages to foreclose on your home for 60 days from March 18th. If you have experienced financial hardship due to the coronavirus pandemic, you have the right to request 1) one extension for up to 180 days and/or 2) a forbearance for up to 180 days.
Please note, payments will still be due once the moratorium is lifted, and tenants/homeowners are expected to make payments on balances accrued. If able, consider talking to your landlord or mortgage service provider about a flexible payment plan instead.
